Mike Zito was born and raised in south
Saint Louis, Mo. Mike began singing at a very
young age - and picked up guitar in high school.
The gritty sounds of the south side focused on
blues and rock.
Mike got a job at a guitar shop out of high
school and worked there while earning his way
into the music scene. Everyone from Chuck Berry
to Bennie Smith were regulars in that store.
Zito soaked up the sounds of that store and put
it into his guitar playing.
Zito put out his first independent release in
1997 titled “Blue Room”. Played every club
in the mid west possible and traveled overseas
for the USO.
Mike’s sophomore release was “America’s
Most Wanted”. Songwriting began to come out on
the second release. At this time – Mike was
playing a regular dose of 6 nights a week in and
around Saint Louis. He sank into the scene with
alcohol and drugs. They took there toll on his
abilities and addiction set in. Zito drifted
around the country for awhile lost and confused.
He ended up in southeast Texas. Mike fell in
love with his now wife and cleaned up. “Slow
it down” was released in 2004. Mike formed a
stellar band and began again playing full time
– all over the country. In 2005 – Mike and
his band played over 250 shows.
Now in 2006 – Mike Zito releases his best work
to date “Superman” Superman is the sound of
Mike Zito. Soulful pop with west coast electric
guitar all over it. Zito has finally found his
voice and his vocals rise above the music.
Mike is celebrating this new sound with another
250 plus shows this year.
