The J Todd Music Agency Consulting service provides honest advice to musicians who want to be successful in the music industry. The J Todd Music Agency provides individualized and personalized services for musicians, band leaders, solo artists, singer/songwriters, music industry businesses and entrepreneurs who need honest professional advice to further their careers. I have over twenty five years of experience as a booking agent, talent buyer, manager, promoter, radio and television producer and host. I am more than qualified to provide reliable and proven guidance to individuals at every stage of their careers within the music industry.

HOW IT WORKS

Initial Artist/ Band Consultation:

Prior to our initial meeting, send me an email with links to all of your available social media, website, YouTube videos, and links to your music. Any information you can provide is helpful. You will also need to send me any questions to cover during the consultation to show contact info . I will review your materials and research relevant information as preparation for our meeting. During the initial consultation, you will receive an honest assessment of your music and songwriting, along with performance and production tips.. By discussing where you are currently in your career, your goals, and the next steps to take, you will have the necessary information that allows you to reach your goals.

My schedule is limited for consulting times; however, I will work to make myself available for meetings at your convenience, whether in-person in the Kansas City Area, by phone, or video chat.

Following an initial consultation, if you have a question that can be answered by email, I am willing to write responses. If I feel that an email response is not appropriate, I will suggest another consultation. I'll quote you a price based on the time needed to answer your question.

BIO

In 1973 my first experience was booking local and regional bands for dances at my high school. Some of the groups I booked included West Minster, Enoch Smokey and the Rumbles. In 1977 I founded The Fly By Night talent agency in Des Moines Iowa and booked bands at Clubs, Colleges, and Festivals. Some of the clubs I booked included So's Your Mother, The Timber Tap, Jollies, Johnny's and Brad's 6 Ave. Saloon, The Broken Arrow and Blues On Grand. Some of the artists I booked include The Little Red Rooster Band, Outfit, Colt 45, Outpost, Split Decision, Johnny's 8th St. Buzz Band, Hooper and Jones, Full Tilt and Kashmir. In 1978 I had the opportunity to book the talent exclusively for the Teen Town Stage at the Iowa State Fair. The following year I produced the first concert at Sec Taylor Stadium featuring Johnny's 8th St. Buzz Band, Dartanyan Brown and Luther Allison as the headliner. From 1980 - 1982 - I sold advertising and wrote reviews for the Prairie Sun, the only weekly Midwest music paper.

1980-1981 - I produced, hosted and sold advertising for a weekly hour long television program High Society featuring local, regional and national artists. The show aired twice a week on Hawkeye Cable Channel 70. The talent included Dartanyan and Marcia Brown, Outpost, The South Dallas County Crew Cut Cowboy Band, Wapsie River, Grinderswitch, Cornell Hurd, Bo Ramsey and the Third Street Sliders, Luxury, The Red Willow Band, The Mother Blues Band, The Law, Jonesin, Jackson and Crowson, Midnight Sam, Johnny's 8 Street Buzz Band, Zarla, The John Lewis Quartet featuring Suzie Midget Tommy Tucker and Boot Hill. I also produced and aired thirty minute interviews featuring Chick Corea and Gail Moran, Duke Tumatoe, Luther Allison and Sid Wingfield, Vince Gill and Mike Riley of Pure Prairie League, and Dave and Chris Brubeck. The show was nominated for an ACE Award (Award For Cable Excellence) by the National Cable Television Association in 1981.

From 1980 - 1986 - Booked a 13 week series exclusively for Seniom Sed sponsored by the Des Moines Jaycees. Some of those bands included The Buzz Band, Split Decision, The West Des Moines Dixieland Band, Flipside and Full Tilt. Our weekly attendance averaged over 2000 and the event was one of the top ten fundraisers nationally for the Jaycees. From 1987 on I continued to book Iowa Artist's in the greater Kansas City including Joe & Vicki Price, Rob Lumbard, Final Mix, Bob Dorr and the Blue Band and Dartanyan Brown. In 2005 I established the J Todd Music Agency and independently produced and hosted the radio program "Candy For The Ears' on 90.1 FM. In 2011 I independently Produced and hosted "Music Makes Sense" on 1660 am. I have booked thousands of gigs and hundreds of bands during my career.
